Deduction of earnings by CMS.

After a disagreement with ex over child maintenance, we are now stuck at him refusing to pay until a deduction of earnings order is made by CMS.

I'm going to call them on Monday morning. It has previously been arranged by amicable private arrangement (following the CMS calculator). Can anyone tell me how long it will take to get to a deduction of earnings from first contact? 6 months? Years?

If the payment us 5 working days late they will start action. They give him 14 days to make the payment up or come to an arrangement to pay . It can take 3 or 4 months to go to deduction order and for first payment to be received from employer . hth

That does definitely help! He is adamant that he will not be paying, so some sort of time frame is most handy indeed.

Took 8-9 months for them to action the attachment to earnings - then they took 2 payments then he quit his job. Was soul destroying tbh.

He builds his social worth (hugely important to him) on his professional status, so I don't see him ever quiting his job. That must have been awful for you HeavenlyEyes Flowers. What a cock. I've just rebudgeted, we'll be fine. I don't need his fucking money, it will just be a bonus when he has to pay it again.
