Idiot - driving balls up - need advice!

Hi, like a TOTAL IDIOT I drove for about five seconds, on the wrong side of the road. I thought I was in a bus lane so moved into the right lane and realised it was the right line for oncoming traffic (they had two lanes on their side of the road, we had one). I realised so fast and corrected it but there were signs up all over the place saying there traffic enforcement cameras so I know I'll get done. Will it be a penalty or points on my license?? Thanks in advance.

Hhhmmm wouldn't this be the same
Type of manoeuvre if you were over taking? If so then I'd very much doubt it!

steppemum · 07/09/2018 19:18

most likely neither and no cameras are maned 100% time

Never thought of it like that flumpybear - I bloody hope I could get away with it on this note! It was literally the time taken to overtake, it was five seconds, so I see what you mean ... thank you ...

I think you should be fine as long as you weren’t actually in a bus lane. Central London is horrid for driving and I’m a seasoned city girl!

You have however reminded me of a friend who had her driving test terminated after less than 5 seconds - she pulled out of the test centre and thought she was on a one way street. Until a car came driving down the right hand lane towards her... and the instructed called it off on safety grounds Grin

OMG DollyWilde - I feel for her, so easily done when you're nervous! Ok thank you ... I really appreciate it, I have been done in a bus lane and was so trying not to get done again, I did something even worse! Thank you!!!!!

Haha it’s a nightmare isn’t it! I’m glad to report her second test went swimmingly and it was a decade ago with no major issues that I know of since (touches wood). Fingers crossed for you, like a pp said if it was an overtaking sort of move I can’t imagine you’d be in trouble. Smile
