Washing machine making load noise on spin

I've had the filter out and there is nothing there.
It's not draining or spinning but when I put it into test mode it did spin but with an awful noise.

Anyone any ideas as I'm currently surrounded by wet washing Sad

Broken motor?

thesendiaries · 07/09/2018 18:40

Ugh possibly.
I'm guessing that's not cheap :(

Could be the bearings, they go after a certain number of washes I think.
I've been in that position - wasn't funny.
Good luck !

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/09/2018 18:51

Yup, bearings are the most likely problem.

thesendiaries · 07/09/2018 19:51

Bugger.

Does it smell a bit burny? Probably dying

gamerchick · 07/09/2018 20:00

Is it the crackling/a load of metal marbles being chucked about noise?

thesendiaries · 07/09/2018 20:02

No smell.
It's hard to explain. Like a crackling noise yes I think!

uneven load/heavy bathtowels or duvet covers mixed with lighter items.
that sort of thing will make a washing machine sound like the end of the world, heavy wet on one side of tub lightweight wet on otherside.
will do it on spin and sometimes wash

gamerchick · 07/09/2018 20:07

It needs a repair. It's just a matter of time before it dies on you if you ignore it. Been there ignored that.

CloudCaptain · 07/09/2018 20:10

Yep. Mine did this and needed a new motor.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 07/09/2018 20:20

yup bearings or brushes, best not to use it as it could start leaking a bit of grease / oil which could stain your wash. call out your repair person for a quote

heavenlypink · 07/09/2018 20:21

Could be bearings but also maybe the belt has slipped and or is wearing thin That would be relatively cheap fix
