Ipad HELP!

Does anyone know anything about ipads?

I think I've broken mine, but I don't know how.
I left it safely in a cupboard for two weeks while I went on holiday. Unfortunately I forgot to turn it off, and now it's just a black screen and it won't turn on or charge.
I've tried charging it for hours with the proper charger. I've tried the thing where you press the on and home button for ages together, but it does nothing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the cables and plug are pushed in properly? Checked the fuse in the plug? Tried charging in a different socket/checked there's not a fault with the socket you've used/checked the trip switch hasn't gone in the electrics cupboard? Have you tried pressing and holding the power button for a few seconds, then release? (This probably won't do anything if there is no power in it at all though.) Is your iPad not set to go into sleep mode after a certain length of time to save power if not used? (Ours isn't so have to check it, will have to change those settings!)

Sorry it's just the basics, but a good place to start. If they aren't the problem hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge than me will come along soon.

I found my iPhone 6 stopped charging with non apple chargers so if you aren't using an official apple charger then that's also worth a try.
