How difficult is it to learn salsa, and in my late 40s will I be out of place in a class?

That's all really Smile.

Salsa looks like great fun, but is it difficult to learn?

Are the classes full of fit people in their 20s? The thing I am most scared of is looking out of place.

Is it salsa that the couple are dancing at the end of this (very funny I thought) video about kids going back to school after the summer break?

@recluse Where are you thinking of going? What type of salsa? The scene is quite varied (I've been dancing in London for a number of years now), which means there's a niche for everyone, different places have a different vibe. On the whole, it's one of he most diverse environments I've ever had the pleasure to be in and, barring the usual exceptions, quite friendly. Especially beginners' classes will get a real range of people, so everyone will be in the same boat.

If you've got a bit of a sense of rhythm, and enjoy the music, I'd say give it a go! It's a great way of stepping out of your comfort zone a bit, and to practise just having fun and learning in the moment. It's given me so many opportunities to grow as a person that I hadn't anticipated, and getting past that initial fear of going is probably one of the best things I ever did.

Feel free to ask questions or dm me if you're local and want recommendations for good places. Smile

And no, they're dancing merengue. Grin
