Guess how many pairs of socks my DH has?

ApolloandDaphne · 06/09/2018 11:48

Was trying to organise drawers space in the bedroom and hauled out all DHs socks. I was surprised at how many he appeared to have crammed in so I counted them then added in his sports socks which live elsewhere.

Guess how many pairs he has?

Whatever number, it'll be odd ...

ChuChuUa · 06/09/2018 11:51

71

ApolloandDaphne · 06/09/2018 11:53

DG Rossetti You would be correct. I found three lone socks so the number will be odd. But how many actual pairs?

More than 71 ChuChuUa

Having just filled an 80 liter plastic sack with socks nothing would surprise me!

Going by how many my DP has, I'd say no less than 200.....

Mine needs 2 LARGE drawers for socks alone!

DearMrDilkington · 06/09/2018 12:07

158

ApolloandDaphne · 06/09/2018 12:07

Sitranced is the closest.

I counted 117 and i assume he is wearing a pair and has a pair away in his overnight bag with him.

So 119 pairs plus 3 odd socks.

Who needs that many socks?

Shock DH gets 10 new pairs for Christmas every year and has 10 pairs forceablly removed from him in exchange!
billybagpuss · 06/09/2018 12:10

I think my DD can match that, but hers are all odd socks and only about 3 of them still make a pair.

thecatsthecats · 06/09/2018 12:10

103 and 3 1/3rds?

Stay in there. There is a cure. My fiance is finally letting his sock and pants collection die a death in favour of a small assortment of 10 pairs max black, plus 10 pairs fancy.

Still more than necessary, but it keeps it down to one draw.

Penguinsnpandas · 06/09/2018 12:11

123.5

When met DH he had about 100 old pairs with holes but only used about 5 newer pairs. Asked him why didn't throw out the ones with holes he said as they may come in useful for cleaning one day but then added but I never like to change the old sock I clean with Hmm

Penguinsnpandas · 06/09/2018 12:12

Cross posted but he may have a secret stash of 4 pairs elsewhere.

ApolloandDaphne · 06/09/2018 12:14

I just text him asking him to guess how many he has. He may tell me about a secret stash somewhere.

Are everyone’s OH the same with pants? Mine collects them! He could go on holiday for a few months and not have to wash any!

DeathyMcDeathStarFace · 07/09/2018 02:48

Wow, that's a lot of pairs of socks, lets hope he doesn't have another full drawer of socks as his secret stash!

In our house there is my dh and 4 boys as well as me, so you can imagine how many socks we have. Their school uniform is plain black socks but we have always bought them all black socks on the visible bits when wearing shoes, but with patterns/colours on the feet so they can be paired and sorted to the correct person easily, but the pattern can not be seen by school. I have always said that if school find out and say they have to be plain on the feet then I will invite them to come and sort out the socks every time I do the washing. No one has yet complained so I don't know if they will take me up on my offer.

(Did try plain black socks early on when only the two oldest were in school. Found they stretched, faded at different rates and some possibly shrunk so they didn't match up properly after a few washes, and eventually found it hard to even work out which ones were which size. I hate not having 'proper' pairs so refused to go plain black ever again!

AamdC · 07/09/2018 06:10

He probably has our socks i buy every one black socks snd tarely throw them yet we are always low on themHmm

Threewheeler1 · 07/09/2018 08:30

Is he a millipede?

ApolloandDaphne · 07/09/2018 10:02

My uni student DD was very impressed with how long could go without having to wash any!
