Random question about house plants

I want to get a couple of large floor plants for my living room but want to have a good look at them first so don’t want to order online. I don’t have a garden centre near me. Have looked in b&q and the range but they were all outdoor plants that would eventually grow to about 10 metres. Any ideas where else I could look? In case it’s nit already obvious, I know nothing about plants!

Tia

Ikea?

MGgirl · 06/09/2018 09:30

Realise you said no garden centres near you, but have you googled 'plant nursery near me' ? The large supermarkets will probably have indoor plants.

+1 for Ikea

Ikea really do have some great ones. Some I've had for years and years and still glorious.

Good house plants are hard to find. (There's a song in there somewhere..)

I think the nearest Ikea is about 40 miles from me too! I do need to go there for something else though so might set out on an expedition. I’ll have s goigle for plant nurseries near me too.

Thanks Smile

I stopped at Lidl in the morning and they had big plants, not even fully unwrapped yet. Must be a special starting today.

That's a Scottish Lidl but I assume they have it everywhere.

Do you have any florists near you? A lot of them do houseplants now.

nocoriander · 06/09/2018 14:00

Are you sure your B&Q doesn't have indoor plants as well? They're separate from the garden stuff, inside the store.

Potentialpoochowner · 06/09/2018 21:20

Thanks for all the replies! Great spot about Lidl - Aldi is normally closer to me but Lidl not far away so will check them out. Will also do another b&q check forindoor plants.

I got some big ones in IKEA, but looked on Gumtree for "huge plant" and found a 7 foot Swiss cheese plant. Takes up half my lounge!
