Stupid idea....covering the washing line?

I was rescuing the washing from a sudden deluge this afternoon (and wasn't quick enough, they were nearly soaked again) and thinking how great it was during the heatwave that you could put endless washing out and it would be dry in no time...and was musing on how to keep on top of it during the winter.
I have a large family so lots of washing, but I hate using the dryer all the time, and I live in a very rainy place. I suddenly thought of putting up like a gazebo/ garden tent thing over the washing line, then you could put washing outside and not bother about the rain?

Is it a stupid idea? Anyone tried similar? Any other ideas?

That is a good idea, my neighbor has a covered area at the back of her house to hang laundry, it works really well.

Take a look at shieling dryers from Scotland. Saw them a couple of years back and really like the idea. Can't do links... Sorry

I always hang out in winter to get some air through it and then finish inside in dryer or on an airer.

Use the laundry room and get the fucking servants to do it, like everyone else.

I only hang washing out on a good drying day and otherwise use the tumble dryer. Life's too short to hang a big pile of washing out and take it in again half wet and hang it again somewhere else. I just have too many loads of washing to contemplate that.
