Hi, I am currently 28 weeks pregnant with my first and I am starting to panic and doubt myself about being a parent. I don’t feel that maternal at the moment. Is this Normal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Totally normal. Baby’s moving bump getting bigger and you’re probably thinking about the birth
And after wards
You’ll be fine
Remember baby doesn’t know anything either. You’ll learn together
Your instinct will kick in and people will give advice although I suggest you only listen to those you trust - Mum friends. /Your mum not random people at the bus stop!

Remember this is your baby and your rules Dont let anyone else dictate what you ‘need’ to do

Oh and btw you will feel love for baby like never before Although if that doesn’t happen immediately that’s normal too

Have a cry in the bath if you need to. I didn’t have PND or anything but looking back I realise how up and down my feelings were and that having the odd cry made me feel better.

Also, as PP said don’t worry if you’re not head over heels in love straightaway. I was a bit underwhelmed by my feelings for DD as a newborn but it grows as they do - she’s three months now and I love watching her trying to figure things out and that first gummy grin in the morning Grin

The fact that you're already worrying that you're not going to do a good job, says to me that you're going to be a fab, considerate and caring Mum! The maternal bit will come when you've got a baby in your arms and you're home & settled.

Nobody can prepare you for what's to come, it's scary and wonderful and life changing Flowers embrace the roller coaster!
