Hi, i have a 3 month old baby girl who I adore, my dream job has come up and thought I shall apply, I have now been offered a interview, it's full time so 37.5 hours (Saturday would be on a rota) and in a town about 20 mins by train, do I go for the interview? Like I say it's my dream job but my mum and aunt etc keep saying I shouldn't go back to work full time

There is nothing to stop you going for it if you want to. I guess you need to consider the costs of childcare. What does your partner say?

It's not really up to your mum and aunt though is it?
Would you be happy working full time?
I work full time in my dream job and don't regret a thing.

I would. Loads of people work full
time with children and everyone is perfectly fine.

Do they know you have a baby? Were you working before she was born? Perhaps you can say you have a three month notice period and buy yourself down extra time

Yes go for the interview, why on Earth not!!!

Don't listen to the pressure from your Mum and Aunt listen to your gut instinct. Financial independence is very valuable.

You may have the interview and get a bad vibe, or an amazing one!!

Agrees go for the job , looking back I'm honestly glad I did however hard it was because it meant through all the crap over the last year I was able to keep our heads above water and get us through financially without needing stbxh

There is a real security to that , plus your dream job ....i love my work and I genuinely think it makes me a better mum to be fulfilled on that side of my life as well

Go for the interview or you'll always wonder

Thanks everyone,

I'm going to go for the interview, my husband is very supportive and says go for it, my mum would have my DD one day a week so that buys one day off childcare a week, my mum never went back to work after having 3 children, hence her opinion. At present we live with my in laws, hence the reason I want to go back to work quite quickly, so we can buy our own house!
