Ok so I will kick this off. I clearly did not pay attention during sex ed cos here I am mid 30s just finding this out.

Your pee and your period come out of 2 different bits.

Astonished when I found this out today reading reviews on moon cups.

Anyone got any to add?

The gender neutral term for a Niece or Nephew is a Nibling. How cute is that

RedneckStumpy · 05/09/2018 03:19

Make two fists, then put your fists together. That’s the size of your brain.

hiptobeasquare · 05/09/2018 04:14

Lego is the largest manufacturer of tires in the world.

JustJoinedRightNow · 05/09/2018 04:50

I love the word Nibling! So cute!

Yep, my mind was blown re “you’ve got another think coming” - I fell down a Wikipedia rabbit hole about phrases for about an hour after that.

JustJoinedRightNow · 05/09/2018 04:51

Oh and the size of your arm
Between your elbow and wrist (start of your palm) is your foot size.

What’s the baby gro shoulders thing? Sorry I’ve been living under a rock

DunesOfSand · 05/09/2018 04:51

Kewqueue the order numbers are written in when writing Arabic seems to be shifting to a left-right system too.
Price tags are printed l-r in most shops I visit, for example.

It's possible to become pregnant whilst you're already pregnant. Very, very rare in humans but it can happen. An American woman got pregnant by her husband whilst she was carrying a baby for someone else as a surrogate. She gave birth to both baby boys at the same time believing they were twins belonging to the couple who she was acting as a surrogate for. When they were born one child was white and the other mixed race, tests proved that one child indeed belonged to her husband and the babies were actually half brothers. How crazy is that!

Lizzy1980 · 05/09/2018 05:22

There are at least 6 other people in the world who look just like you and there's a 9% chance that you will see one of them in your lifetime

Aridane · 05/09/2018 05:28

lizzy - how can that probability be right unless the people are related and so likely to meet. Each other anyway?

Lizzy1980 · 05/09/2018 05:29

When you cry if the first tears come from your right eye they are tears of happiness. If they come from your left eye they are tears of pain.

Ok, will stop boring the socks off you all now lol. I've always had a good memory for 'useless trivia'.

Veterinari · 05/09/2018 05:35

I didn't know that cows had to have babies to be able to produce milk..... i just assumed they produced it naturally. Like bees produce honey.

Bees make honey to feed the bee larvae so it’s a kind of baby food too (though only the Queen produces babies)

BabyCobra · 05/09/2018 07:12

On the pregnancy fact - it is quite common in dogs. This is sometimes why with litters of pups in strays you will get puppies who look completely and utterly different to each other. Think short haired and white with a pink snout to long haired and multi-coloured with a black snout...

BabyCobra · 05/09/2018 07:15

The Falklands are near Argentina! blush I always thought they were near The Shetland Islands and that Argentina was just being really cheeky wanting them shock

This cracked me up. The cheeky buggers Grin

If you notice on the global weather forecasts you get on the likes of Sky, the weather forecast in The Falklands is always shit. Its always freezing cold. Why are they so much in demand??

ConstantlyCooking · 05/09/2018 07:39

Had ten minutes to spare before leaving for my train... then saw this thread!

cloudtree · 05/09/2018 07:45

Between your elbow and wrist (start of your palm) is your foot size.

That doesn't work for me. My arm from elbow to wrist is longer than my foot.

Allthatglittersisgold · 05/09/2018 07:46

Might have a wee cry to test those facts. Mental.

I explained the pee and period being different holes to my DM (47) and DSis (21) recently and their minds were blown, mine was blown that they didn't already know this Grin

I had my mind blown not too long ago when I found out that Washington State and Washington DC are 2 separate places and the state is actually on the other side of USA. I always though any mention of Washington just meant DC. Shock🤯

@Shannaratiger "Never realised that Fructose, the sugar from fruit, cannot be used by the body. It goes straight to the liver and is all converted into fat!"

That's not true at all. Fructose is used to replenish liver glycogen stores (as is glucose), and any excess is metabolised to triglycerides (fat) and stored.

Fructose has a lower glycemic index than glucose, and does not trigger insulin release.

The point is, consumption of excess fructose will contribute to weight gain. Just like glucose. High-fructose corn syrup is/was in lots of fizzy drinks, thus contributing to an excess consumption in regular drinkers.

Don't blame the compound, blame the consumer.

Summerisdone · 05/09/2018 07:55

@misstblue2 haha the ready salted crisps theory dawned on me just recently too, and I couldn't believe it had taken me 28 years to realise this Grin

JustJoinedRightNow · 05/09/2018 07:58

Cloudtree, but it has to be right! I measure shoes in the shops against my arm when I can’t be bothered trying them on!! Maybe it’s just a weird fact about me!

leighdinglady · 05/09/2018 08:00

There was more time between the stegosaurus and T-rex than there is between the t-rex and us

leighdinglady · 05/09/2018 08:02

Oh and when I was about 13 I tried to shove a tampon up in to my bladder. Learnt your lesson the hard way and got a mirror out. How have you reached your 30's! Confused

Summerisdone · 05/09/2018 08:09

@TreasureInMyTummy I only found out the men not using loo roll fact out late last year. I was toilet training my DS as a single parent, a few weeks later he has a weekend visit with his dad. When dropping DS off on the Sunday evening, his dad asks me why DS uses loo roll after a wee? I couldn't believe that it's not a normal thing all boys/men do and he couldn't believe I thought they did Grin

BabyCobra · 05/09/2018 08:18

I didn't realise until recently that before Jackie Kennedy married Aristotle O'Nassis - her sister Lee was in a long term affair with him (over a several years). Lee found out about Jackie's relationship with O'Nassis only days before it occurred (with no prior warning from either of them). The first time they spoke about it was the eve before the wedding on O'Nassis' yacht. Can you imagine????

Oil. There's potentially a massive amount around the islands.
