Ok so I will kick this off. I clearly did not pay attention during sex ed cos here I am mid 30s just finding this out.

Your pee and your period come out of 2 different bits.

Astonished when I found this out today reading reviews on moon cups.

Anyone got any to add?

OP posts:

Found out this evening that Hardeep kohli singh from celebrity big brother is only 49 years old...mind blown...I thought he was in his 60's

peony2325 · 04/09/2018 23:09

There's no loo roll by men's urinals (or anywhere to flush it) so we can assume most men don't use it

MrsDeltaB · 04/09/2018 23:15

To be fair to OP, unless I'm doing my keegles wrong, when trying to strengthen pelvic floor muscle I only really 'pull' my vaginal area. Might explain my mishaps! 😆

Deadringer · 04/09/2018 23:23

I don't think that's true about loch Ness, a quick google tells me that loch Ness is 272 metres at it's deepest point and the north sea is 900 metres at it's deepest point. I just found out that my mother is older than sliced bread, she was born in 1926. My grandfather was born in 1880.

yesornoworld · 04/09/2018 23:27

Op are you 30 or 13?
Like seriously?

kenandbarbie · 04/09/2018 23:31

What's the car windows fact?

MaxPepsi · 04/09/2018 23:34

That cocaine comes from a plant.

I thought it was completely manufactured from chemicals.

reallyanotherone · 04/09/2018 23:37

Never realised that Fructose, the sugar from fruit, cannot be used by the body. It goes straight to the liver and is all converted into fat!

Not true.

Anxious2niteaaah · 04/09/2018 23:38

Another celebrity big brother fact,

Sally Morgan is old enough to be Hardeep kohli singh mother Shock

Hardeep is 49,
Sally is 17 years old - 66

IKnowThisMuch · 04/09/2018 23:42

"Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and the "A, B, C, D..." song are the same tune. And now you're all singing it in your heads 😋

I don't know whether this counts as 'mind blowing', but you can only dream about people you have actually seen. You just may not realise.

Haireverywhere · 04/09/2018 23:45

Mother older than sliced bread - love it!

Wrt bodies my DH only just learnt he is supposed to brush both sides of his teeth.

I personally learned so much the week of the poo crumbs posts! I then found out many of my friends thought wiping from front to back meant taking one piece and wiping up the front and one up the back. Rather than ensuring you wipe from vagina towards anus.

Every day's a school day.

Westworldmaeve · 04/09/2018 23:46

My own dummy moment. I didn't realise that the ÷ symbol is just a blank fraction with dots replacing the numerator and denominator.

Oh. I was actually really good at maths in school. Never realised this. Blush

MargotLovedTom1 · 04/09/2018 23:48

Not exactly blind-blowing, more 'huh!', but I recently found out actress Charlotte Ritchie (Barbara in Call the Midwife/ Oregon in Fresh Meat) is the granddaughter of Richard Burton.

MargotLovedTom1 · 04/09/2018 23:49

...mind, not blind!

Fillybuster · 04/09/2018 23:52

@MakeYourOwnFuckingTea ....oh yes! I never, ever spotted that, and had to read your post twice before it made sense. And now feel somewhat embarrassed....

I rather like the baby vest shoulder thing. First discovered it on MN about 12 years ago and it was properly life-enhancing at the time. Less so, now that my youngest is 8, mind you... Wink

@cloudtree Mind. Officially. Blown. My new random favourite fact Thanks

Somewhat amazed by Brad Pitt/Nigel Farage (someone say it ain’t so....please???) and swimming pool gold, too.

Amazing what you can learn on t’internet at bedtime Grin

My contribution to this wonderful thread: apparently tears caused by happiness, sadness and onions look different under a microscope

DilysPrice · 04/09/2018 23:56

Treasure you don’t have to wonder, I can categorically confirm that
50% x 60% = 60% x 50%
Also
0.5x0.6=0.6x0.5
And 5x6=6x5
It’s a fundamental principle of mathematics

Fact that I found very surprising is that more British men die from breast cancer than testicular cancer (although testicular cancer strikes at a much younger age so the years of life lost are much higher).

The dinosaur/pyramid factoids surprise me every time I read them.

ShotsFired · 05/09/2018 00:07

The little letters when you write 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc

  • are all the last two letters for the full written word FirST, SecoND, ThiRD...

(I'd just never really thought about it before I learned that.)

jputthekettleon · 05/09/2018 00:32

Crispy seaweed isn't seaweed (generally speaking). Not sure if this is well known or not but my dinner guests were shocked and appalled when I mentioned it Grin

Sunflowersforever · 05/09/2018 00:41

^ is it kale?

Nakedavenger74 · 05/09/2018 01:18

Heard on here last week. That the phrase is "You've got another think coming", not "you've got another thing coming"

Boggled I am.

TuMeke · 05/09/2018 01:28

In Aus and NZ, most of the popular sanpro brands print a selection of random facts on the protective strips of sani pads. So I spend a week every month coming out of the bathroom armed with valuable new knowledge Smile

FlosCampi · 05/09/2018 01:30

When Howard Carter first opened the tomb of Tutankhamen, there were still the footprints in the sand of the last person to come out and seal it up. Then the wind whirled in and blew them away.

traceyturnblatt · 05/09/2018 01:34

@FlosCampi that's really cool and also a little bit eerie

therealimposter · 05/09/2018 01:35

I only found out birds have sex a couple of years ago

It's like an adult show in our garden magpies and pigeons both like to get amorous on the back fence. Dd told her class that she watched a couple making babies in the garden when she was in reception. The teacher wanted a word....

Lizzy1980 · 05/09/2018 02:00

Our fingers get wrinkly when we've been in water for a while so that we can grip things more easily when we're underwater.
