As a temporary measure, which looks better,
1, visible hooks and just about long enough or
2, too short

I'd go with option 1, the gap underneath would annoy me, more than seeing the hooks.

RainyAfternoon · 04/09/2018 13:58

Option 1 I think. But could you undo the hem and regent with iron on tape?

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 04/09/2018 13:58

I think the too short version is slightly better.

RainyAfternoon · 04/09/2018 13:59

*re-hem

overmydeadbody · 04/09/2018 13:59

Visible hooks of you actually need to block out the light ( bedroom)

Otherwise non visible hooks if it's just temporary

DappledThings · 04/09/2018 13:59

1 looks better

CurtainARama · 04/09/2018 14:01

Don’t care about blocking the light and I’m planning to let down the hems at some point.

Thanks everyone!

You could add a deep false border (along the bottom and up the centre on both sides) use a contrasting fabric, maybe cream. You wouldn't need much fabric, use it double, or use an old sheet as the backing fabric.

serbska · 04/09/2018 14:06

visible hooks and just about long enough
This one

CurtainARama · 04/09/2018 14:12

Ada there’s loads of hem to let down, I just haven’t got round to it and wondered if a ten minute quick fix may be some improvement!

Option 1 looks best, I think.

Smile

I'd go with visible hooks then!

Eminybob · 04/09/2018 14:31

Can you put up a pole instead of a runner? (I appreciate this is more difficult with a bay window). That’ll give you a couple of extra inches of drop.

CandidaAlbicans · 04/09/2018 14:35

I much prefer the longer visible hooks option

Neshoma · 04/09/2018 14:41

I did a quick fix with cello tape as my bedroom curtains were too long. I have a sewing machine and can sew. Still like that now Grin

EnidButton · 04/09/2018 14:53

Option 1. Although the top on Option 2 is nicer, the bottom looks a bit daft and will be much more noticeable than the long hooks on option 1.

CheeseAndOnionIceCream · 04/09/2018 15:09

Option one as the gap would annoy me more than being able to see the hooks!

brassbrass · 04/09/2018 15:13

Visible hooks ruin the look of pleated curtains the whole point is just to have fabric up there and not any hardware.

MaryBoBary · 04/09/2018 15:44

Definitely option 1

AveABanana · 04/09/2018 15:52

Option 2. Then I reckon you could leave them up while you let them down. Put the ironing board in front of the window and then you could sew them back up without even taking them down again.
