What can I do on an evening alone in Edinburgh?

I have to go to Edinburgh for work later this month and have a WHOLE CHILD-FREE EVENING all to myself! Shock

What can I do (apart from drink lots of lovely wine)? I will need want to be in bed by 10.30pm as a whole night of unbroken sleep will be a dream come true and is an opportunity that must be maximised, but what can I do between 6 and 10?

Grateful for any guidance!

Go to the castle an admire the views over the city? I’m sure it’s open later in summer? I loved the castle views.

Have a swim at the Comminwealth pool; walk up Arthur's Seat; go to the lovely Dominion Cinema: www.dominioncinema.co.uk

All good ideas, thank you! I like the idea of a stroll up Arthur's Seat (depending on how the capricious Scottish weather is).

One of their ghost walks - they're really fun even if you're not 'woo' and some of them are quite interesting from a history perspective as well

Ooh yes the ghost walks are really fun and a nice sort of group thing to do even if you don't know anyone else
