because the water company are busy connecting a new water main outside and will be all morning, whatever they are doing is pulling the water back through the pipes causing the meter to tick slowly down.
Unfortunately its also making a horrendous noise while it does it, enough to make the cat twitch from slumber so it must be loud.
Do I leave it on, technically saving me a pound or two in the process? or turn the godawful noise off?
