Apologies if this has been done to death.

However, there smseems,to have blown up while I was out of the UK.

Can someone, tell me in a nutshell what this is about? And what is the issue about an international definition of anti semitism not being adopted?

A smear campaign from the Right to discredit Corbyn.

Agree with CachNiMa.

Confusing (deliberately) disagreements with Israel's policy, with anti-Jewish sentiment.

A tiresome and continually failing smear campaign by those who fear social democracy.

. Indeed absolutely. We are all so stupid that we can't make any analysis of the behaviour of some in the Labour party without the help of the media. Thank goodness we have people to tell us how stupid we are.

Labour wanted to adopt a definition of anti-semitism that's different from the official one that pretty much everyone else in the country uses. The NEC did this because either a) they want to be able to more freely criticise the state of Israel wrt to Palestine or b) they are tacitly anti-semitic (depending on your point of view).

There IS smearing from the right wing, but IMHO certain sections of Labour are guilty of playing down justified fears of anti-semitism on the hard-left. Either way, my feeling is that it was an easily avoidable act of self-sabotage by Labour, and is a perfect example of why Corbyn is a hopeless leader.
