Looking for something to watch that is romantic, funny, clever and not too saccharine/Hollywood. Any ideas? Can be new or old but not a weepy please.

Come share your favourite romantic films.

Clueless - based on Jane Austen's 'Emma'.

wallyfeatures · 03/09/2018 19:43

I've never watched that one, so thanks for the suggestion! I had, in fact just looked it up on IMDB.

How about|

  • Cruel Intentions
  • Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistlestop Cafe
  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off
fromroses · 03/09/2018 19:49

Juno, Cruel Intentions, Clueless, Mean Girls, Legally Blonde.

FrontRowSeat · 03/09/2018 19:50

Juno is fabulous.

Bridesmaids (bit of swearing)

Lineeye · 03/09/2018 19:52

Never been kissed.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/09/2018 19:53

Yes to Juno.

Also The Wedding Singer, if you don't mind silly and cheesy.

And Moonrise Kingdom, for just lovely, quirky and clever.

Veterinari · 03/09/2018 19:53

Heathers
Legally blonde

peppapigkeepsthemquiet · 03/09/2018 19:54

The sweetest thing! Very much the same era as 10 things I hate about you!

DeathMetalMum · 03/09/2018 19:56

Get over it and Cruel intentions, second less comedy but still good. Possibly a film called 'She's the Man' but I can't quite remember the whole film.

Thrn after those Not Another teen movie. I watched all of these growing up!

Clueless is the natural next film to watch.

QuietNinjaTardis · 03/09/2018 20:00

A knight’s tale.
Bad moms (on Netflix) I know it’s not a rom com but it’s so funny.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 03/09/2018 20:00

Yes to Clueless and Ferris Bueller!

Love Bridesmaids too, made me laugh and loved the friendship thing too (and the "Wendy")

I thought The Big Sick would be good, but found it tedious...

mrsfeatherbottom · 03/09/2018 20:03

I love that film!

Not the same genre exactly but a film that I also love and no one has ever heard of is Return to Me with Minnie Driver and David Duchovny.
