We are looking to go abroad on the 28th of this month for a week.
These are my 'wants'
No more than 3 hour flight
Somewhere where the weather is still nice
On the beach hotel
Minimal transfer

We are planning a private taxi for transfer, but most of what I've looked at seem to be an hour min, I'm nervous passenger, so really don't want to spend ages travelling to hotel
TIA

"No more than 3 hour flight" - from where? If you are starting from Heathrow, you will have more options too many choices than if you are starting from Aberdeen!

Who is "we"? - you and OH? You alone + 3 kids under 5 + dog... ?

What about the Spanish coast, the Algarve, Croatia, an island in the Med? If you can narrow it down a bit, someone else might be able to give you some useful pointers.

Oops, sorry, it will be flying from Manchester, myself, dh and dd.
Yeah, I think Majorca looks nice, but the transfers are so long Confused

Transfers should not be long in Majorca. Alcudia and Puerto Pollensa are an hour maximum from airport. Palma, Soller and West coast in between even less.

People say Madeira is nice - not been though. We loved the white palace hotel in Crete (Rethymnon ) as it's remote but short taxi drive to the town and the food and accommodation were lovely

-Fly Manchester into Dubrovnik airport - 2 hours 55.

Stay in/near Cavtat and it's less than 30 min transfer. Great area to stay in, cheap and lovely people. Good ebaches although small and you can get a small boat or bus to Dubrovnik Town. Also easy trips into Montenegro or Bosnia/Hersegovina.

beaches not ebaches Blush

Menorca. Resort of cala n forcat / cala n blames. Cheap and cheerful and family friendly. Transfer about 45 mins from airport. Less in a taxi.

We go there every year and it's fantastic.

In fact we have just this morning booked our holiday there for next year. At the talayots with Tui.

Loopylou6 · 03/09/2018 17:35

Thank you everyone, much appreciated, I especially like the sounds of yours @drawingplans, have you any idea of the weather around my proposed time?

It can start to get a bit cooler in the evenings so would advise a cardi but day time, will still be quite warm.

SmellMyBeads · 03/09/2018 17:44

Fly to Malaga. Perfect for families and Benalmadena and Torremolinos only short transfers.

DrawingPlans · 03/09/2018 17:45

Ah. Just noticed you wanted an on the beach hotel. The talayots is in between beaches. It's about 10 mins (dawdle) walk to a choice of 4.

Have a look at the deals section of Jet2holidays. You can filter by all your requirements and upgrade to private transfer from coach, where the coach trawls round hotels and might be as long as it says, or might be quicker.

Try Costa del Sol, Malta, Balerics, Algarve or Croatia. Maybe Greek Islands too - not sure about flight times and they say Greece winds down at the end of September, but I've never been. Weather should still be good at that time of year, we've been to Malta or Balerics a few times between mid September to early October and it's usually been hot and sunny and only the odd rainy or cloudy day.

Thank you all Smile
