Do your DC's have bedroom doors open or closed at night?

Throughout my childhood, I insisted on my door being ajar, and the landing light being on; I liked being able to hear the sounds of the house. Only much later as a teenager did I sleep with my door closed. What happens with your children, and do you prefer it if their doors are open or closed at night?

OPen. DD's bedroom is tiny, and it would get too stuffy to have it closed. We leave our bedroom door open as well, and only close it if we have guests.

Normally closed. Both kids have a night light! Plus it helps us hear if dc2 is getting out of bed (creaky door!)

Our is either fully opened or ajar with a wedge so the cats can come and go.

Closed. Fire safety reasons.

Open here-so that I can hear them if needed and stops bedroom getting stuffy

PenApple · 03/09/2018 09:54

Shut with nightlights, even at 9 & 11 they still like their small lights on.

If the cat is out our bedroom door is closed, left ajar if she’s in overnight or she claws at carpet...

ofcoursehesthefuckingfarmer · 03/09/2018 09:55

Closed due to fire safety.

ThePricklySheep · 03/09/2018 09:55

One shut, (light sleeper), one closes to nearly closed itself, one wide open (scared sleeper).

I’d like them all shut so they don’t wake each other in the morning.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 03/09/2018 09:56

Open. DS is 13

TeeBee · 03/09/2018 09:57

I've always closed them for fire safety reasons. Now, if I walk in to say goodnight and forgot to close it, I hear a little 'please close my door'.

wanderings · 03/09/2018 09:57

@PenApple I too have my adult bedroom door ajar because of the cat clawing at the carpet otherwise!

Closed for both DC (4 and 3). Mine is closed too. We all like complete darkness to sleep!

ParkheadParadise · 03/09/2018 10:03

Dd's door is closed. We have a monitor, so we can watch her get up at 2am have a play on the rocking horse talking to herself 🙄
Our door is also closed.

Aprilshowersinaugust · 03/09/2018 10:04

Teens close theirs, dd's open. Our closed.

Storm4star · 03/09/2018 10:05

I still sleep with my bedroom door slightly open to get a little bit of light from the hallway! I don't like sleeping in pitch black. My DCs doors were open a little as kids but now as adults they always shut them.

happymummy12345 · 03/09/2018 10:10

Always closed except during summer when it was hot. And if he's not well we leave it open. No light at all, don't like that idea
