wasnt really listening.
but my phone flagged up Breaking News Sad

I realise he is not everyone's cup of tea, but he has been great and will be sadly missed. What a character!

OP posts:

Sorry OP - I'm delighted. Never known anyone so able at making everything about them. He acts like an over-excited two year old. Not how I like to start my morning.

AbeautifulBeast · 03/09/2018 08:41

Aw no! I'm off work and missed the announcement!
He's grown on me and I will miss him too.
I hope Sara Cox takes the show over 😁

PristineCondition · 03/09/2018 08:43

So glad him his son's slots and his how rich are weeee auctions can fuck off

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 03/09/2018 08:44

Hallelujah!! I can now go back to radio 2 in the morning!

He’s such an annoying prat

CandidaAlbicans · 03/09/2018 08:46

I don't mind him too much but have enjoyed the programme a bit more when Sarah Cox has stood in for him. I just wish the BBC would return the 5pm Drivetime show to how it was before Jo Wiley joined and it turned it to a cringefest. I used to love it but can't stand it now.

Morethanthisprovincallife · 03/09/2018 09:00

I'm sad too op.

It's his energy I like. Sarah Cox saps me of energy. Chris infuses energy.

chocatoo · 03/09/2018 09:05

I also hope that it means they extract Simon Mayo from Jo Wiley. I can't bear to listen to the drivetime programme and I used to love it. They must have lost thousands of listeners.

"Sorry OP - I'm delighted. Never known anyone so able at making everything about them. He acts like an over-excited two year old. Not how I like to start my morning."

That is exactly how I feel about his presentation style. He is just too frantic for me. I hope they choose Sarah Cox.

I am delighted he is going.

saganorenscarandcoat · 03/09/2018 09:13

Now all they need to do is give Steve Wright the boot and it'll be great!

LoniceraJaponica · 03/09/2018 09:14

Yes. He is so irritating isn't he. His puerile humour makes my teeth itch.

surferjet · 03/09/2018 09:14

Glad he’s going.
It was all about him & his kids & his bloody car obsession.

MrsMozart · 03/09/2018 09:18

I too missed the announcement.

He's a clever chap, but too much of it is hidden by a infuriating alter ego.

I like Sara Cox and hope she's the new presenter!

As for Drivetime, don't get me started. The new show is shit. Jo is trying so hard but it's just not the right slot for her.

explodingid · 03/09/2018 09:20

Never enjoyed anything he does and I particularly disliked his breakfast show. I wish Terry Wogan was still on - now that was sheer perfection.

StillMedusa · 03/09/2018 09:25

Thank heavens!! I have to switch off if he's on when I'm driving.
Oh for the days of Terry Wogan whose gentle style and 'Janet and John' used to brighten my commute!

BartholinsSister · 03/09/2018 09:36

Brace yourselves for Chris Moyles.

explodingid · 03/09/2018 09:40

Brace yourselves for Chris Moyles.

Shock No they wouldn't do that to us, would they?

starfishy · 03/09/2018 09:44

I am sad too OP! I really enjoyed his positivity in the morning! Actually made me want to get up in the morning and embrace a new day Smile
I hope Sara Cox is the replacement.
I agree about drive time though- Jo Whiley needs to go.

MeetOnTheLedge · 03/09/2018 09:50

Sorry, but I'm another who is glad, I can't stand his presenting style and switch off the moment DH leaves the kitchen if he puts R2 on. He certainly is a character though.

PhillyJoe · 03/09/2018 09:51

I have sort of got desensitised to Chris over the years. I hate how out of touch he is with how most people live. Love Sara Cox so hope it is her that replaces him but not sure it will be. I used to like Jo Whiley's later evening show but she is really not great on with Simon. I think his humour makes her on edge and she just ends up trying too hard to be funny. I really miss the drive time show as it was.

Normandy144 · 03/09/2018 09:52

I'm sad too. Really like his show and the little team. Loved the Friday format too. I just hope they don't put Jo whiley on it. She is awful.

Jeippinghmip · 03/09/2018 09:52

I’ve had to miss radio two in the morning since he arrived, so I’m thrilled.

Hopefully the bosses will take this opportunity to move things around, including moving Jo Wiley away from Simon Mayo.

UghNoWay · 03/09/2018 09:56

I couldn't listen to him either. He is awful and so irritating.

Blobby10 · 03/09/2018 10:07

I can't cope with Chris Evans in the mornings - I honestly gave him a go but switched to local radio which, even with the adverts, was more bearable.

I really hope Dermot O'Leary would do breakfast as I love his Saturday morning shows but I doubt he's even in the running Sad

Agree with the other people who have said Drivetime isn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. Even the confessions have been watered down Sad

Jitters22 · 03/09/2018 10:12

Haven't listened to the Radio 2 Breakfast Show for years because I cannot stand him. There are few 'celebrities' who annoy me to the point I can't listen to or watch them, but I'm afraid he is one.

His voice, his delivery, his ego, his childishness - how anyone can find that entertaining is beyond me and I am completely baffled at his popularity and success.

I'm glad he's going and I only hope they get someone with a gentler more adult presenting style. Simon Mayo would be my first choice of the current crop, but I doubt it will be him.

Just not another Evans' style presenter please.
