Best online grocery shop?

I've used Ocado previously: bit expensive, and currently using Morrisons, who are ok, but some of the quality of the fresh stuff is a bit dire. Think rock hard 'ready to eat' avocados and squishy peppers. They also seem to give very short dated stuff.

I'm a bit wary of Asda, due to the way that I've heard they put a charge on your card before delivery and then bill you when delivering.

What are your experiences, please?

I had an issue with Asda charging me twice for an online shop - it took weeks and numerous frustrating phone calls to get a refund so I now won't use them at all

I've used Sainsbury's, Tesco and Iceland in the past and they have all been good but Ocado are the best imo.

RoseMartha · 02/09/2018 21:28

Tried ocado but too expensive for me as in Sainsburys.
We cant get Morrisons online here but have a store locally.
Asda the stuff had short sell by dates and i havent tried again.
Been using Tesco grocery online for over three years and very good. If i want a long date i put in the notes bit longest sell by date please.

Ocado here, tried them all but have used Ocado now for about 6 years. Great quality; things actually last a week and far better in price than our local Tesco. And great customer service.

I've never had issues with asda. You can easily apply online for refunds for items with short use by dates but it's rarely an issue for me. Sainsbury's have been fine too

candlefloozy · 02/09/2018 21:36

I've used asda - never again. They were so late with deliveries and I think cancelled one too!
Ocado - been great but pricey.
Morrisons - we have a pass with them. They are on the whole the best. Also ocado and Morrisons use the same delivery drivers etc.
Tesco - they were ok. But their prices went up and I wasn't prepared to pay it for their crap food.
Sainsburys - they were ok too but pricey.
HTH.

Ocado do price match to tesco.

NonaGrey · 02/09/2018 21:42

I’ve had good experience with Asda in the past but use Sainsbury’s these days.

Service is always good, they do one hour slots and it’s easy to decline substitutions.

MrsJamin · 02/09/2018 21:46

Ocado, for 10 years or so. It's the fact that they know exactly what's in stock so you v v rarely get substitutions, and also the life of the products are generally a lot better as they haven't been sitting on a supermarket shelf for others to bypass. Any refunds which are rarely needed are processed without fuss. I do get vouchers for future deliveries if they find it would have been cheaper at tesco.

MotherofPearl · 02/09/2018 22:01

Another vote for Ocado. Like MrsJamin we've used them for about 10 years and I can't fault them.

Babysharkdoodoodoodo · 03/09/2018 19:06

I might reload the Ocado app then, and have a look at the prices compared to Morrisons again then. Last time I used them was about 3 years ago and they were quite pricey.

All supermarkets do that. They put a charge of one or two pounds on your card to make sure that the card is valid. This is the same as when buying fuel using pay-at-the-pump. The Tesco authorisation drops off my card five working days after my delivery.

ellesbellesxxx · 03/09/2018 19:19

Tesco used once and was fine.. Sainsbury’s the best in terms of how reliable it is. Sometimes early but always v prompt in the slot and only an hour to wait around... we usually book an evening slot. Did use Asda as so much cheaper but longer slots and the times we wanted were pricier so actually weren’t saving that much money!

tomhazard · 03/09/2018 19:46

I've been using Sainsbury's for years. They are very reliable and almost always at the beginning of the hour long slot. The drivers are friendly and helpful and substitutions are sensible. The fruit and veg is usually good.
