Boring advice needed about brownie uniform!

I'm just getting all the brownie uniform and I am a bit lost on sizing.

I have a tallish 7 year old, normal build. Does anyone have a clue as to what tsoze their 7 year old is in? I was thinking maybe 32inch for the tops and 28inch for the bottoms, sound about right?

I would normally buy and send back but all the places seem to charge postage so I want to get it right.

I did say it was Boring!!

My 7yr old was tall. We went for 34 tshirt and fleece. It saw her to guides even if the tshirt turned into a crop top. Didn't bother with trousers as they were all too small. Went for black leggings instead.

The cut does seem to be a bit wide and short. The girls tend to have plenty of shoulder width left when they get shorter

I bought a 32 t-shirt and coat yesterday. Not guiding uniform, but as a short, size 8 adult with a 32 inch bust, it fits me nicely for the top half. I'm sometimes mistaken for an older brownie when the other leaders are distracted. Blush

24" trousers, 28" tshirt and 30" hoody for my tall 8 yr old. The tshirts don't get any longer the larger they go... they just get wider Hmm

DD is 9 and in a 28 bottom and 32 top so that seems a bit big at 7.

Ask your Brownie leader, Guiding sizes are weird so most of us either keep a few 2nd hand spares to try on or have got quite good at looking round the unit and going 'ah yes Flossie over there is a similar size, lets look at her labels' we can also usually order for you from the local depot, which has no postage costs, is generally cheaper and often gives the unit a cut.

Should add not all units can do that/not all areas have local enough depots, but its worth asking.

Thanks for all the advice. It's as weird as I first thought when I was looking!! I will order some and cross my fingers Grin

We got the biggest t shirt as it was about an inch and a half longer than the ones her friends had. Dd is 5ft 6 now at 11 so depends if you're buying to see her through brownies or not.
Thankfully guide uniform sizing makes much more sense!

I'm having the exact same problem! My 7yr old is average height but solidly built and I don't want to fork out over £40 for a kit that she'll be bulging out of. My guess would be bottoms 22, t-shirt 26 and hoodie 28 but I think I'll talk to the unit leader before ordering.

I wish they'd size uniforms by age because I know age 8 is generally ok on her.

Passthecake30 · 07/09/2018 19:11

the badger, I'd definitely go up 2" in each, see what size my daughter is wearing.

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 08/09/2018 11:09

Thanks Passthecake30.

I've ordered a 28 top and 30 hoodie. Haven't ordered any trousers yet - she's going to wear plain leggings for now.
