SAHM’s: does your husband/partner contribute to your pension?

All the marriage threads made me discuss this with my husband today (we are married but it’s still worth doing) and he’s open to the idea but I’m wondering what other people do/have done.

I am the working parent, and DH is SAHD. The child benefit is in his name, so he will get a state pension, and we hope to get a buy to let which will provide a pension income. Otherwise, what's mine is his so we plan on sharing a pension, as we share an income.

My husband would ceirtainly share his pension with me but if he died I’d only be entitled to half(it’s a defined benefit scheme). I already have a separate one I contribute to but of course I don’t get much for it. I do intend to make sure I’m eligible for state pension if it’s still around when I’m old enough.
