Date night frequency

Just being super nosey as to how often you go on a date night with your DP when you've got kids?

We've got 3DC and last time we had dinner out without the kids it was pre DC3 and was February this year, he said that's good going!

One dc aged just 1.

We’ve had 2 date nights since he was born, in November and August.

Three weeks ago but before that April. Dh works really long hours so if he is off we tend to take the kids as well so we can all enjoy it Hmm

We struggle for sitters and are just clinging on to the time we can just go out and trust the kids don’t burn the house down. We have another 12 years 😭😭

I think never in the 16 years we've been together. When we do go out it is generally to parties or dinner/events/festivals/going to stay with friends, often with ours and everyone else's kids - we spend plenty of time together at home & are generally pretty sociable, a weekend where nothing happens socially is few and far between so it isn't something that worries me.

I really don't see the point 'date night'. We do tend to have nice, boozy Friday nights together at home, just not out - occasional sneaky lunches together whilst the kids are at school & I think we may have had the odd birthday meal out so perhaps that counts? I've always preferred socialising in bigger groups with lots of friends so perhaps that contributes to it - if I'm going out I want to make it fun and have too many people I want to catch up with to just go somewhere with the two of us!

Mind you the world has changed so much since we've been together - 'dating' was a concept from American films, so maybe I'm just ancient and old fashioned..

Just one on one happens about every two months.
We promised that it would happen monthly, but our lives are busy so we struggle to meet that. We don't have any family around so need to get a sitter when we do go out.

A what?? Never heard of such a thing.

We went out this weekend. Before that was over 18 months ago.

Hardly ever. Once a year perhaps, maybe even less than that. We have a disabled DC which makes it very difficult. DH often goes out with his mates and I go out with mine. We actually have very impressive social lives, just not together Grin

We watch lots of films and have takeaways etc when the DC are in bed so we certainly don't go without Smile

Our LO is 7 months old and we've had a date night every month. We've also been away for the night to a concert and maybe 4 or 5 day trips out without baby so it's just the 2 of us
