Why does the skin on my arm look like this?

I got back from Spain a few weeks ago. I get a slight tan but nothing major. I popped some fake tan on after getting back from my holiday and the next day, I noticed this line down my arm so I assumed I'd done a bad job of my fake tan.

Problem is, this was almost 3 weeks ago and the line is still there, even though I've exfoliated. What's going on? Can anyone help shed some light on what this stupid tan line could actually be?

Can barely see your line... I read on here that sometimes fake tan stuff can cause hyper-pigmentation and it lasts a long time.

It looks like sun damage to me but I'm no expert!

I couldnt see anything at first, but think slightly darker on outer arm. I have hyperpigmentation up my ankle after a holiday, but its more browny/obvious patches than that

Thanks for the replies. It's less obvious in the pictures than in real life. Do you think it will definitely fade in time or could this be permanent?

Bumping because it's getting me down and I'd be pretty gutted at the thought of this being permanent. As I said, the pics don't show how bad it really is.

If it's uneven pigmentation, like vitiligo, then it will be most obvious in the summer. As your tan fades, it will even out.

Thanks picklemepopcorn. I'm only 29 and my legs are absolutely covered in thread veins, but at least my arms were fine. Just really hoping it goes away Sad

My skin always looks like that after I've used fake tan.

For 3 weeks though Winnie?

I'd love it to just turn out to be the fake tan but in my experience that normally would have faded by now, especially since I exfoliate twice a week. And I've really concentrated on that area, it doesn't seem to have faded Sad

I have a patch like this in a circle on my upper arm, slightly darker than the other skin and sometimes looks like a very light bruise. I read it could be hormonal?

picklemepopcorn · 02/09/2018 21:27

That's true, it happened to DSis when she was pregnant. She got a tan for the first time ever.

Honestly, try not to worry. People who know you won't care, and people who don't know you will assume it's just a slightly uneven tan.
