Creative challenge - what to do with 1000 used poly pockets/ wallets

Other than throw away/ re-use for usual purpose.

There must be some amazing art project or creative use I haven’t thought of. Hate the bloody things and have about a billion of them. Nobody wants them. I never really want to see them again after having to take a single sheet of paper out of every one for shredding.

I’m thinking some sort of creative/ eco/ recycling use for DC. Any ideas?

I don't know what they are. Can you post a picture of them?

keiratwiceknightly · 02/09/2018 08:55

Seriously, donate them to a school. We have no cash these days and stationery is so expensive that any non-essentials don't get bought. I'd love it if someone gave them to me!

worstmotherintheworld · 02/09/2018 08:57

If there is plain paper in them you could use them as homemade whiteboards - maybe not 1000 though!

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/09/2018 09:00

I am in a school. Every class has billions of them as work sheets used to be put in them.

This is a poly pocket.

Fill them with paint and stuff like small toys or glitter, seal them at the top, tape to a window for kids to play with, depends how old your DC are though!

Coldhandscoldheart · 02/09/2018 09:07

You can put paint in them & tape the top down and they are then a squidgy poly pocket full of paint. That might use, I dunno, three?

You could bunch them to make flowers? Colour them in first. Then you’ve got a bunch of plastic flowers.

My brain hurts. Make the children come up with some ideas!

ilovesooty · 02/09/2018 09:07

Just reuse them or donate them to somewhere for reuse. Does anyone really only use them once?

SleepFreeZone · 02/09/2018 09:08

I honestly read that as Polly Pocket 😂

parrotonmyshoulder · 02/09/2018 09:14

I don’t really use them once - I have inherited them. I also have a very ample supply that I will be able to use for the intended purpose.

Even the local scrap store doesn’t want them. So I’m trying to think of something fun or useful to do with them.

Thanks for suggestions.

I’d love 1000 Polly Pockets. DD could definitely find a use for them!

A charitable organisation local to me has just asked for these on Facebook so I can connect you if you'd really prefer to be rid of them!

PolkerrisBeach · 02/09/2018 09:16

You could probably cut them into long strips and knit them - depending on quality of plastic.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 02/09/2018 09:18

Charity shop or local charity (always skint for office supplies)? They are useful but so cheap.

PolkerrisBeach · 02/09/2018 09:30

Yes to the charity shop but ASK them first - we get so many things donated that people have obviously think we can use in the shop or office and often they just have to get thrown out.

sazza76 · 03/09/2018 02:14

How about a local charity? I work for one and we use hundreds of these a month and we have a tiny budget. Would happily pay postage if you wanted to donate them :-)

ilovesooty · 03/09/2018 02:23

What @sazza76 said. My workplace would be glad of them.
