Will be going away in October and could really do,with some summer clothes. Ideally looking for lightweight summer dresses in cotton.

I am 5’2”and a 12 - 14 if that makes a difference.

Some places will have sales on still.

Next might have some online, I’m sure from when I used to get a directory they had a winter sun section. Also try the likes of Boden and sea salt you may get something in their sale.

Next was my first port of call but slim pickings

End of season sales, or perhaps eBay? There's new as well as secondhand stuff on there.

I'm very casual in the daytime on holiday and live in long t-shirt type dresses, thrown over bikinis. I get them from the Gap Outlet or M&S beachwear range. Not sure if these are still in stock.

I also like Weird Fish.

Tesco have a sale on of all summer stuff.

Aridane · 02/09/2018 06:41

Thanks, all. Still seems slim pickings. Strange that in this day of year round foreign travel it’ua struggle to get out of season clothing. In my mother’s day I think there was something called cruise collection designed for this eventuality!

EBay is my go to place when we travel out of summer season. It's great. New and used sold so personal preference really.

Try ASOS?

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 02/09/2018 08:03

Try Brand Alley or Zulily. They might have some end of/last season stuff. Or online stores that sell last season clothes. Just Last Season do, but they’re usually wedding guest type things. Might be worth a look.

I fell into this trap a few years ago when we booked out holiday for October. Went shopping in August for holiday clothes and the shops had nothing! Which is crazy considering English schools were still on their "summer" holidays (I'm in Scotland but still) Leary our lesson and done all in June this year 🤔

Am heading out to Spitalfields Market in case they have those light weight floaty ethnicy dresses that used to be markets a couple of, ahem, decades ago.

Lesson learnt about buying out of season!

OK - got a loose fitting dusky blue dress in a crumpled cotton from Spitalfields market. With pockets. Won’t set the world o. Fire but will be practical, comfortable and won’t show the dirt!

Try some of the catalogues like Very. They have big sales on summer stuff.

junebirthdaygirl · 02/09/2018 14:56

You could pick up a few things your first day on holidays if really stuck. We always go early June and l pick up a few dresses that keep me going in our Summer at home.

lifechangesforever · 02/09/2018 15:06

It's really hard once July is ending to find any summer clothes.. we go to Florida in Oct/Nov and I always have the same struggle, actually think I'm going to buy stuff over there this time!
