Steroid injection insomnia

Hi, posting here for traffic.

I just had my second dose of steroid injections yesterday at 12pm. I'm 36+2 (oh no look at the time. +3 now) baby was trying to make an early appearance two nights ago and they decided this was the best course of action.

I have not slept a wink all night. Anyone had these injections. How long do these side effect last. I really don't fancy giving birth on zero sleep.

Help! Panicked mum here!!

My child had steroids for his chest issues and had a severe reaction. He has epilepsy and complex needs which may have made the reaction more extreme but he never slept for about 4 or 5 nights and had a psychotic episode and was hoospitalised in the end. Dont want to scare you but some people do not do well on them. Have you asked the medical team and can they give you anything to help you sleep , though obviously as you are pregnant that may not be an option.
You poor thing it is rotten not sleeping . Hope you can at least rest even if you cant sleep . I am up with said child now and sleep is often in short supply here so i feel your pain . Good luck with your new baby btw. It will all be worth it in the end x

Thank you so much for your response. I am so sorry to hear about you DC. Sounds awful. I am going to call the Doctor tomorrow and see if I can take anything but hopefully this insomnia is short lived and this is the only side affect. Was hoping for a least one good night sleep before baby arrives!

Thanks again.

I had steroids at 36+ weeks admitted 36+6 baby born 37. Don’t think I really slept well from the first steroid onwards! Sorry probably not what you wanted to hear. Hope baby stays put a little longer and you get some more rest

Thanks strawberry.

I got about 1.5 hrs in total last night and my 2 DS's woke me at 6am! I suppose I need to get used to sleepless nights again just a bit gutted.

Still only contracting every 20 minutes to half an hour so hopefully we can get to term. Plus ds2 starts school on Tuesday and I really wanted to be there for his first day!
