What are the best and worst things about 3 year olds

My son is 2 (he’ll be 26 months by the end of the week) and I’m always thinking about “can’t wait till he grows out of X” and conversely “I’ll be sad to see Y go, it’s so cute!”

What will I be saying that about next year?

The best thing is that they eventually get older and go to school!

In my experience terrible twos are just a prank to prepare you for the nightmare ahead, I love my kids dearly but they where both assholes at times

3 is cute because they develop a rudimentary understanding of the world and they can talk/argue properly.
3 is annoying because they are so contrary and not old enough to deal with the realities of this real world, cue tantrums and coining the phrase 'threenager'.

3 is fantastic because they seem to come out (speech wise) with some cracking things!

3 is annoying because they don't miss ANYTHING, especially when it's something you've spoken about thinking they can't/won't hear you (as it's a surprise) or you thought if you used code they wouldn't understand but they always do

Delayed gratification. ‘Yes, you can have X when you’ve done Y’ finally works

They get jokes and try to take the piss out of you.

End of naps or at least mandatory naps and then then go to bed earlier

The ‘why’ phase begins which is trying but also hilarious.

Basically all their little embryonic personality that has been itching to get out suddenly comes gushing out in amazing spurts of fun and randomness. They are themselves but suddenly so much so. I love three year olds but then my two year olds were all total shits!
