Tax free childcare

Hi, apologies for asking if this is obvious, I'm trying to navigate the realms of gov.uk with a baby asleep on my arm.

So entitled to tax free childcare. Set up my government gateway account. Found DS's nursery added that.

Now it gives me the option to make a payment. Do I pay the full amount I am invoiced for, or do I pay that - the bit they subsidise? How does it work?

Thank you for helping my slightly slow to catch on brain tonight :)

You pay money into the TFC account and it gets topped up in there by the 20% so you pay the full amount invoiced.

Eg, if your bill comes to £480, you could pay £400 into the TFC account, the other £80 magically appears (a few days later) and you pay the full invoice...

You make a payment in to your tax free account, then a short while later the extra contribution will be made. Then you can make a payment to your nursery with the total.

Be aware it takes a few days to reach the providers back account so send it in plenty of time before the invoice is due.

Yup, as above! I love it when the magic money appears in my account Grin
