All of a sudden I seem to know loads of CEOs

It seems that anyone who does a bit of self employed work now refers to themselves as CEO.

I currently know people working from home in fledgling businesses doing dog walking, cup cakes, massage and nails. All have FB statuses of CEO which I assumed was intended to be amusing but no, when introduced to new people they will say, when asked what they do, "I'm CEO of a catering company/pet care company" etc.

Good luck to them all, I hope their businesses thrive and they get the income and work life balance they hope for but am I being mean to think get over yourself with the CEO thing?

In the interests of complete disclosure, their titles should be CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, Treasurer, Accounts Payable, Office Manager and Janitor Grin

If that is what makes them feel important- all power to them. However, they will, quite rightly, look foolish. CEO of a company of one. 🤣

I would assume it stood for 'complete entitled orifice' tbh.

This is a "thing" for the type of woman who gets sucked into one of those godawful pyramid selling scams. They fall for all the CEO of my Life guff.

Most of us who are self-employed or freelance are happy to be just that, we don't need to talk it up.

Job title inflation is a disease of this century. Not just with those who are self-employed.
