These ones www.harveynorman.ie/bedroom/beds/childrens-beds/charlie-storage-bunk.html

Cast of characters include DH (previously a precessional Carpenter - now works with computers)
DD1 - just turned 5, desperate to ‘help’
DD2 - hates to be left out of anything
Me - general labourer and distractor of DD2

Very small house - there are boxes of wood and bits EVERYWHERE.

Want to take guesses on what the first fight will be about? Will we be talking at the end of the day?

Screws have been divided and counter (we have more than in the instructions)
Bits of wood have post its stuck to them.

So far so good!

Oh shit. In our house that would go soooo wrong!

First fight= who hid the Alan key?

Peopleplease · 01/09/2018 10:01

Well I’ve shut DH and DD1 in the bedroom for now.

If he gives her little jobs she’ll be happy. So I’m just trying to entertain/ stop DD2 causing destruction!

How's it going?

Oh I have bunk bed envy! That’s lovely!
I’ve been looking and looking lately, but the sad fact is my youngest is 2, so more likely to end up with something like this next summer

How did you get on OP?

Muddlingalongalone · 01/09/2018 20:41

How did it go?
Dreams charged me £38 & took less than an hour to do mine last week. It took me longer to dismantle furniture.....

I remember dh and I building two mid sleeper cabin beds on 3 consecutive nights. The 1st night I miscounted the pieces and thought a bit was missing so it was mission aborted and I phoned Argos to have a go at them.
The 2nd day we realised my mistake, I phoned Argos to apologise and cancel the replacement and we got on with building the 1st bed. It took several hours but went well.
The 3rd night we got a bit cocky and thought we knew what we were doing. We tried to build it in the tiny little box room, put the base on the wrong way around, borrowed a drill to put extra holes in the frame because we thought the fools had not put enough in and then realised our mistake and had to take the whole thing apart and start again from scratch. It took until the early hours of the morning. Luckily the children weren't involved - we did it overnight and they had sleepovers in each others' rooms whilst we were building them.
We did well though; despite the dramas and the mistakes we didn't have a single argument!

It's been 11 hours now. The inevitable truth is...? They've killed each other with a tiny Allen Key and a philips head screwdriver......
