Decent chip shop between Derby and Birmgham

We’re headed down south (driving from Yorkshire). Can anyone recommend a chip shop somewhere around sort of Derby/Tamworth? Not sure if we’ll be using A38 or M42 yet. Only satnav will tell!

A38 or M42?

Not fish and chip shop but a pub. The Plough at Huddlesford is just off A38 and was fabulous the two times we stopped off there.
Not a local so no other recommendations but a great stop off.

Looking like M42.

Pub meal would be lovely (will bear in mind for way home tommorow) but we need to eat and run ASAP. Need to get there before DM goes to bed!

Looks like the nearest one to the M42 in that patch is Wilnecote Fish Bar B77 5BS.

I realise you were after a personal recommendation but these all have good reviews and in some cases delicious looking pictures. I googled “good chip shop off M42” as you can see from the search bar

Within 5 min s drive of m1 junction 25 (derby/ long eaton) you will find a George's fish and chip shop and restaurant.

Or also off J25 there is a fish and chip shop/restaurant called the cods scallops. It is amazing! Beef dripping chips and a huge choice of fish (nicer than George’s 😉)

There is the Olive Tree in Mere Green.

Thank you for your recommendations. We’ve just had some great fish and chips from a chippy in Alvechurch. Alvechurch is lovely!

Sorry Bike. From one Yorkshirewoman to another, there are no decent chippies outside Yorkshire. People might think they know a good one, but it's unlikely they're going to be like our fish and chips.

Although saying that, the cods scallops sounds promising. Beef dripping and a clever pun name is a very promising start.
