Is it harder being successful?

Meaning, to work hard and get a worthwhile career, with a matching salary?

Or is it easier to downsize and leave the rat race, put leisure before work?

Is the pressure to work longer hours as required by many vocations worse than the pressure of being poor?

How do you achieve a balance ?
