So, any ideas what might be causing holes to appear in DS's pyjama bottoms?

2 holes appeared in the bum part a few days ago - he said that there was something sharp sticking out of his mattress which he had to keep pushing down that might have caused them (no idea why he hadn't mentioned this before Hmm) so DH had a good look and there was nothing there.

Anyway, a day later - 5 big holes have now appeared in one of his knees of the same trousers (he is waiting for some new ones to arrive which is why he is still wearing them).

They are relatively new, from Next so reasonable quality and they don't look like they are wearing through. I am a bit baffled but obviously don't want him to wear new ones in bed until I work out what it is Confused

Do bed bugs eat clothes???

Is it a bit of the spring coil coming through when his weight is put on top of the mattress? Might not be glaringly obvious just looking, could you try lying down in his bed?

It's a top bunk which I am not sure will take my weight Blush

If that was the case, the fact the holes are in 2 totally different places is not unexplainable as DS sleeps in the strangest positions so it is entirely possible that his knee would be in the same place as his bum had been the night before Grin

So weird. Moths can make holes but not that quickly.
Is he picking at his clothes and not telling you maybe? Can you flip his mattress over onto the other side?

I knew about moths but that is generally when they are in the cupboard aren't they? Not when someone is wearing them Hmm

I don't think he is picking them - he isn't a liar unlike his brother and would tell me the truth when pushed.

It is very weird and I have told him he'll have to sleep in shorts/underpants until we sort it out!

So bizarre!!

If there is a spring/wire sticking out, it might not be obvious to your husband just looking at it. But the weight of a child might push the mattress down and the spring/wire might stick out and rip the clothing. It will be pretty uncomfortable also, poor DS.

You can get a mattress topper in Argos etc for £15. This may make it more comfortable and stop the spring/wire wrecking his pyjamas.
