Mask of pregnancy - help!

Has anyone had successful treatment for melasma? (mask of pregnancy)
I have horrible dark patches under my eyes/top of cheekbones and also on my upper lip, which started during my second pregnancy over three years ago. Consequently I look like I have terrible eye bags and a five o'clock shadow.
My youngest is now two and a half so I've given up hope of any post partum improvement.
Has anyone else had this? What, if anything, did you do to improve it?
I know it's only looks but it's starting to get me down now.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry, I wasn't sure where best to post this.

Mine's faded over the years. Make sure you wear a good sunscreen on your face as the sun can bring it out. I looked like I had a tache for a few years!

Thank you. I wonder whether this year's hot summer has aggravated it. Although I'm usually out of the sun in the hottest hours.
The upper lip is making me especially self conscious. I'm prone to a few hairs there anyway so it's already a sore point.

I have just seen a dermatologist about the same problem. I went to my gp and explained I was feeling really self conscious about my face & she referred me to an NHS clinic ( I believe I’m quite lucky to have had this done)
I am putting azelaic acid gel on every morning and adapalene (a retinoid) every evening. Both are primarily used for acne ...seeing her again in 6 weeks to go into Pigmanorm if no improvement seen.
She did say I should wear a physical not chemical sun cream on my face every day- one with zinc -and 50spf if possible. I am using Clinique city block (40 spf but good)
Apparently it can never be cured but can be minimised
Maybe start with your gp & see if they can refer you? It’s awful to feel so self conscious

Mine is horrendous and getting worse as I age. It gets much worse in sun so this summer has wrecked my face despite f50 and a hat. I look bloody awful and I hate it :(

Has anyone had, or does anyone know about, laser treatments for this?
