Coughing blood

My Pre teen just coughed up a mouthful of bright red blood out the blue. If this happened an hour ago I’d be phoning nhs24 - but my GP opens in 10 minutes so I’m going to phone them. But my heart is racing. I was going to get her in to see dr anyway as she has very frequent nose bleeds - so could be related??

I’ve googled it and says not to panick unless in huge amounts, hense waiting for GP.

Has anyone else had this? What was it? She doesn’t feel unwell, just upset as it was a shock for her.

Yes, could definitely be if she's just had a nose bleed. I do it all the time. DH was Shock when he first saw me!

Oh that’s reassuring! She last had a nose bleed yesterday afternoon though.

(That's not to say it's not something else. Just that in my experience it's not unusual after a nose bleed)

Look up her nostrils, do they look red? It's possible she had a slight nosebleed overnight, but didn't notice. Especially if she was lying on her back.

It's very possible she's ruptured a small clot from yesterday's nosebleed which has bled into her stomach. Still worth a visit to the doctors and possibly ask to investigate the frequent nosebleeds.

Just looked and can’t see any blood, hopefully GP will see us first thing or all be all panicky!
