Do you believe you will see your beloved pets again in the afterlife?

I'm not a Christian... can't contemplate an all knowing all loving God who allows us to do such shit things to each other. If anything I lean towards reincarnation.

However, IF there is an afterlife at some point, I can't imagine it to be 'humans only' The most devoted love I have ever experienced, wasn't my lovely husband or kids, it was a 24 pound Main Coon cat, who gave love to everyone who walked in our home, and who slept every night with his paws wrapped around my neck. Four years since he died and I miss him terribly.

I can't imagine any afterlife/heaven that doesn't include the animals we have loved and who have loved us. I want to believe that when I cross the Rainbow Bridge, he will be there waiting for me.

What do other people think?

I believe we will.

MrsZB · 31/08/2018 00:59

Sorry but no. And I am a huge animal lover.

HirplesWithHaggis · 31/08/2018 01:01

I don't believe in an afterlife, any variety of god, or the rainbow bridge. But it's a lovely idea that harms no-one.

Yes I do. I've been to many spiritual readings that have been scarily accurate so I'm a complete believer in the afterlife x

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 31/08/2018 02:36

I don't believe in any afterlife, but if the descriptions of heaven as a form of paradise were to be believed, surely much loved and missed pets would be there as they give pleasure to you?

Mind you, hopefully there are dog walkers in heaven too as I can imagine there being a substantial pack of dogs waiting for me and I'm not sure I fancy having to walk 20 a day Wink

SilverySurfer · 31/08/2018 03:45

No because I don't believe in a god or afterlife.

MrsTerryPratchett · 31/08/2018 03:57

They'll be there, we won't Grin

But really, we're all worm food together.

Mrsnippycat · 31/08/2018 06:52

I hope so.

Ifailed · 31/08/2018 06:57

No one knows, despite claims to the contrary. If it gives you comfort, then why not believe it?

crazydoglady6867 · 31/08/2018 07:00

Not all of them I hope, I have had lots of pets in my time and could never look after them all in an afterlife.

MrsOake · 31/08/2018 07:02

No, I don’t think so. Mostly because I’ve only ever had chickens and rabbits who, at best, are indifferent towards me.

QueenofLouisiana · 31/08/2018 07:11

I’d like to think so. I’d like to spend the afterlife giving ear scratches to my very much missed dog.

Quangot · 31/08/2018 07:18

No.

madcatladyforever · 31/08/2018 07:19

Definitely yes, if I can't see them again I don't want to go there.

PhilODox · 31/08/2018 07:25

Arg@avocados! Are you Her Majesty? Grin

OP, it's a very interesting question though, isn't it? Do animals have souls? If they do, how big/small/intelligent an animal do they have to be to have a soul? What is the cut-off? Are we saying that large life-forms such as trees or coral have souls?
Hmm.

Personally. I don't believe in souls at all. Not even for humans. Nor an afterlife, obviously.

PhilODox · 31/08/2018 07:26

Sorry, that should have been "arf" not "arg"!

cushioncovers · 31/08/2018 07:33

I really want to believe there is but I suspect the idea of souls, heaven, afterlife, reincarnation etc are a human invention to help ease our pain and give us comfort.

SoyDora · 31/08/2018 07:34

No, I don’t. Then I don’t believe in an afterlife at all.

CatsOutTheCudboard · 31/08/2018 07:36

@Naughtykitty i hope you don't mind me asking. What type of spiritual readings have you had?

annandale · 31/08/2018 07:37

Oh i hope not. I realky hope tgere is no afterlife as one of the things i imagine is a long queue of all the animals ive ever eaten lining up to ask me wtf.
