seriously... most things tgat go in the dishwasher are rinsed first, right?

very unlikely therefore that they need the full 2hr programme - stick it on a glass 29min programme and job done!

The hack I learnt here was to just put the tablet in the cutlery tray, not the door. I have not had any left on debris or issues since doing this. DH is a non believer and the dishes come out with crusted on stuff on his washes.

bunnyrabbit93 · 31/08/2018 09:45

I don't rinse just scrape. I never had a dishwasher growing up and now I do I absolute love it and it saves arguments !

Ignoramusgiganticus · 31/08/2018 09:49

No rinsing here. I'll scrape but even that isn't perfect.

Cleaning blades? WTF?

Our last dishwasher was still going strong at 10 years old. We replaced it when we replaced the kitchen but it was in perfect working order despite the lack of cleaning.

LesDennishair · 31/08/2018 09:52

But if you're worried about crap in the dishwasher filter, where do you think it goes when you rinse?

It goes into the plug filter which is easy to tip out any remaining debris. Grin

inquiquotiokixul · 31/08/2018 09:56

No rinsing here. The dishwasher has a filter - so long as that gets cleaned regularly, a prewash is unnecessary.

In my house any item of kitchen or eating equipment is considered dishwasherable no matter what the label says. If it gets damaged by the dishwasher then it didn't deserve to survive.

catsofa · 31/08/2018 09:58

Yes to the 29min cycle, and also when the final light goes on that's the drying bit, which I cut short whenever I see it and save electricity by letting stuff air dry instead. That means only a 20 minute wash.

Jux · 31/08/2018 10:00

Which cycle do you use to cook the salmon? If I knew, then I'd have given it a go by now.

LetsGoBitches · 31/08/2018 10:05

My dishwasher uses 17L of water.
Damned if we’re going to waste 10L rinsing stuff as well.

Everything goes into our dishwasher: if it’s pots and pans we run it at 65, if it’s just plates, and serving dishes, we run it at a short glass program.

Important to clean filter and arms.

Which cycle do you use to cook the salmon

I did guffaw at this.

BUT, it is an important detail nevertheless. An eco cycle is a bit long for salmon, although kinder to the environment, is a short glass cycle perfect for this task too i wonder.

(And where do you put the salmon please....)

The only rinsing you should do, is anything tomatoey if you are putting Tupperware type stuff in as well. If you don't you end up with orange plastic

postitnot · 31/08/2018 22:27

weetabix. you need to rinse off weetabix or it redistributes itself to the glasses and gets baked on.
otherwise, no.

Beansonapost · 31/08/2018 22:31

Scrape the bits off... put in dishwasher.

Once a month buy dishwasher cleaner. Follow instructions.

Clean filter every other day.

When I was a newbie here there was a lot of chatter about cooking a whole salmon in the dishwasher. Seems it's perfect -wrap it in foil and seal strongly first though. Sadly, at the time I didn't have a dishwasher (about 2002) and so didn't know they had different cycles Blush

I still would like to know, even though we now have a dishwasher but cannot afford a whole salmon!

WalkingTed · 01/09/2018 21:00

look what i started 😱😂😂

im afraid i will still rinse first - my dishwasher isnt a waste disposal unit.. and ive gone thru - - broken-- far to many dushwashers by not cleaning the filters 😑😱

and a 29 min cycle is a bonus
