seriously... most things tgat go in the dishwasher are rinsed first, right?

very unlikely therefore that they need the full 2hr programme - stick it on a glass 29min programme and job done!

Do you wash your clothes before you put them in the washing machine OP ?

chipsandgin · 30/08/2018 20:58

I’ve never rinsed anything, ever & generally use a short cycle unless for roasting dishes etc, everything comes out lovely!

Surely the rinsing is a massive waste of time & water & also defeats the object of the hassle saved by having a dishwasher!? Each to their own I guess!

EdisonLightBulb · 30/08/2018 20:59

Had a dishwasher 18 years now. Never ever rinse. Always scrape because it means the filter doesn't need cleaning as often, but that's it. Burnt on pasta or cheese 50 degree cycle. Any thing else quick wash on 40.

Top up the rinse aid and salt regularly but that's it.

AdoraBell · 30/08/2018 21:01

DH is a rinser, I’m a scraper.

FATEdestiny · 30/08/2018 21:02

I often run the dishwasher without a tablet in. Most of the time the pots come out as clean as they would with a tablet in*

That's a money saving dishwasher hack.

  • I should quantify that with the fact we are a big family (of 6) so I often run the dishwasher twice a day. The afternoon wash with breakfast and lunch crockery and cups without a tablet, the dirtier dinner pans and plates with a tablet.

Rinsed and economic wash
Takes a day and a bit to fill the machine , and it gets a bit whiffy if Its not rinsed first

fieryginger · 30/08/2018 21:04

No rinsing here.

Doilooklikeatourist · 30/08/2018 21:04

Don’t do rinse aid or salt ( softish water area )

user1486076969 · 30/08/2018 21:06

I rinse, but then only ever use the 36 min cycle (John Lewis dishwasher). The only time we use a longer cycle is Christmas (or similar)...

krisskross · 30/08/2018 21:07

How does everyone have these short cycles? Ours is new and theyre a ll about 3 hours!

MsJudgemental · 30/08/2018 21:08

If you’re going to rinse, you might as well wash by hand! Just scrape and bung them in on eco wash for everyday stuff.

JillCrewesmum · 30/08/2018 21:09

Dog's lick pre-wash seems to work for us

MsJudgemental · 30/08/2018 21:09

We don’t use rinse aid or salt, just throw a tablet in.

PrtScn · 30/08/2018 21:14

I don’t see the point of having a dishwasher if you are going to rinse the ruddy plates first. Just scrape off any leftover food into the food bin and stick the plate in the dishwasher. I mainly just use rapid wash, or eco wash. Unless I have proper stuck on food to pans etc when I’ll use the intense wash.
I also stick anything and everything in the dishwasher within reason.

PenCreed · 30/08/2018 21:14

The filter for the extractor fan, really? Am very excited by that possibility!

SassitudeandSparkle · 30/08/2018 21:15

I know what you mean about the newer machines, our Eco wash takes hours! I use the 50 degree wash on turbo and it's still a good hour and twenty minutes at best. The older Beko that was in the house when we bought it had one that was under an hour.

Moonflower12 · 30/08/2018 21:16

@user1486076969

You really know how to celebrate 🎉 SmileSmile

Jux · 30/08/2018 21:19

DH insists we rinse Grin. Guess whether we actually do.....

NoParticularPattern · 30/08/2018 21:22

I don’t rinse a thing. I don’t soak a thing. In fact honestly, if it doesn’t come out clean the first time it goes in again and again until it does 😂😂. Everything that isn’t nailed down goes in our dishwasher. Horse bits, pegs, DDs toys. The lot. I’ve never knowingly rinsed anything (or washed up properly unless in an emergency)

Whatsthispain · 30/08/2018 21:29

How are you supposed to clean the machine?? I only clean the filter. Oh dear.

Nanny0gg · 30/08/2018 21:30

Mine's just over an hour. I don't use long cycles in the washing machine either.

3luckystars · 30/08/2018 21:32

You can cook fish in the dishwasher but it must be well wrapped in tinfoil.

user1486076969 · 30/08/2018 21:46

@Moonflower12 .....we're 'living the dishwasher dream'....Grin

3rdrockfromthesun · 30/08/2018 22:31

Ooo can I add my tip: when the dishwasher is on dry mode turn it off and open the door. The items inside will dry just as nicely and you save electricity.

I 💗 my dishwasher. Can I ask if anyone else finds they have refilling the salt in the dishwasher? Can not remember needing to refill the salt on my parent's dishwasher

3luckystars · 30/08/2018 22:46

I don’t even know where salt would go.

I put the hob rings in it. Beat that.
