I'm coming late to Topsy and Tim, but...

... is the next-door-neighbour a bit of a creep? I get a strange vibe from him; if this was an adult drama he would definitely turn out to be the serial killer.

Hahaha. I just said the exact same thing to DH!

Also, did he essentially just get their Mum to make tea for his builders?! Hmm

I bet he's a real mansplainer, as well...

T&T's mum has just been for a run. Now she's leaning seductively against the sink with a towel draped around her neck. I'm suspicious. I think she's having an affair.

Could it be with Creepy Neighbour?! Please be careful, Joy; there are clearly bodies buried under that newly-laid driveway...

Just watched the school visit one. Granny comes round so mum can go on a run, granny then suggests T and T go with mum on their bikes. Seriously, I’d lose it if my mum did that. Runs are for headspace, not martialling two mini maniacs on bikes 😱

Grin Ah, but she's a MIL, not a DM, so she's bound to do ridiculous, unhelpful things that her DIL can then roll her eyes at. Clearly Joy is a Mumsnetter.

So, today was the last day at nursery school for Topsy and Tim who have all their adult teeth, but whatever. But a wasps' nest meant the school had to close, so Joy invited the whole class round to hers instead to have nursery there. Which is a lovely idea, but had she really thought this through? Public liability insurance? DBS clearance? I can just see the thread on AIBU - "There was a problem at nursery today, so instead of calling the parents, the teacher brought all the kids to some random kid's house for the day. WTAF?"

Joy's probably just distracted, though, because she's clearly having it off with Tony Welch's dad. They were studiously avoiding making eye contact for the whole day, and the sexual tension was palpable.

I have only read the books. Specifically, the older ones.

The one when "Topsy and Tim go on a train" it's clear Mum has left her DH and is going back to her Mums and taking the DC.

I don't blame her. He is useless.

She has to take them swimming and he just sits in the coffee shop the lazy bastard. They go to the supermarket and he loses one of them. His discipline consists of "steady on." And he wears beige slacks.

Joy bloody Odell is a nightmare. Nothing fazes her, nothing 😬

Kids drop a tray of cupcakes? Not a problem. Kids are farting on with their shoes in bed? Oh how funny.

She had a dinner party the evening before moving house for crying out loud!

The books are better, marginally anyway. And there is one where she mutters a few cross words!
