Help! DS has a phone for the first time

Hi
DS11 has just got his first phone. It's just for texts and phone calls really, eg when I leave him at home for short periods but obviously his use of it will expand a lot.
It's an iPhone 5.
I just set it up and signed him into my iCloud account so that he can download apps that I have already paid for, especially Amazon Prime Music.

It would also mean we could use "find my iPhone" app to locate his phone when he loses it in the house.

But now I realise that by signing him into my iCloud account, he can have access to all MY texts and emails....I DEFINITELY DON'T want that!

So, what have you experienced peeps done with this issue please? Do you just get your children to use their own email addresses and get their own iCloud accounts?

And can I still somehow use an app that gets my son's lost phone (eg done back of sofa) to play a sound when I instruct it to do so from my own phone?

Thanks for your help everyone

You'd be better of sorting his own iCloud idea which you can access.

You can set him up with a child account and link it to your account as part of your family

Yes, if you look on the Apple site for ‘Family sharing and iCloud for your child’ it explains. Set up dd’s iPhone like this and it works well for us, I approve any apps and we’re all on the ‘find my iphone’ App
