Sudden bed wetting in older child

Just wondered if anyone had experienced this. My DS has suddenly started wetting the bed out of no where. He’s 9 and has been dry since 3, never any bed time wetting. First couple were while we were away on hols so thought was maybe because we were somewhere unfamiliar and he was drinking more while we were out at night but it’s happened again once at home. He seems fine and he isn’t that bothered, we’ve not made a fuss. But I am worried. Will make app for doc but don’t want to stress him out about it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Don't want to worry you more but drinking more and sudden bed wetting are classic symptoms of diabetes.

Yes, thanks that was one of the things that I wanted the GP to check out. The drinking more on hols was more to do us being out in the evening at restaurants and so he was probably drinking more later than normal. I've not noticed him being any more thirsty since we've got home and he doesn't seem to be weeing more during the day - but yes definitely need to check it.

The holidays - like you said it was probably drinking more in the evenings. Tbh if it's only happened once since you've been home then I wouldn't be too worried. I'd just keep an eye on things and take him to the dr if it seems to be becoming a pattern.

We had this. GP did diabetes tests and they were clear. She also said it’s not uncommon in boys. It lasted about 3 months and he grew out of it.

Thanks. Think I’ll monitor him for a week or so and see how he is. Hopefully just out of routine after lots of late nights during the summer holidays
