Why do my flowers look shit?

Not a flower person but DH has brought home these.
What am I doing wrong?

I would say that it’s not the best vase for your flowers.

They’re also all the same by the look of things, so they won’t look as amazing as a mixed bouquet.

Trim a little off the ends so that they don’t stick above the vase so much :)

I would trim a good three inches off the ends and make sure the stems are all the same length. Then remove all leaves that will be below the water level and about half the leaves above the water so the green isn't so dense.

Also mix the colours so they're not all stuck together in one part of the bouquet

Trim the stems and remove most of the leaves , then mix them

Trim the ends, rip some of the leaves off and get an opaque vase. Glass vases only look good with a small bunch of flowers IMO

When trimming the ends -
Keep in mind rough rule of thirds for how much to stick out. Doesn't work for all flowers and arrangements but could suit this lot in this vase
And
Cut at an angle

Definitely remove leaves below the water line. It looks a little er... crowded

Use a small jug and cut off the stems so only floerheads visible. It will look a bit small and unimpressive but Much prettier. See pic, could also add some greenery from the garden.

Much better, I'd grab a small bouquet of another colour to mix in too but they look nice

Yes they look lovely!

They are still too tall. Cut them a bit more and vary the lenghts of the stems ... place the shorter ones at the front and sides.

Better but still way to tall don't be afraid to trim them more like a lot more
