I just checked the date on an M&S burger sauce that I happily chucked over my prawn, pasta and vegetable dish. It says bb **/?/ 2015. The day and month are illegible.
Aghhh.
The dc aren't eating at home tonight and dh had sweet chilli sauce on his.
So just me.

I think my fridge needs a clean out

I'm sure you'll live! What exactly is in that sauce - I've never had it?

Did it smell or taste iffy?

I ate (and survived!) 10 year out of date rice once.

It's tastes like the Big Mac sauce that you get on the burger.
Rapeseed oil is the main ingredient, then water, sugar, and egg yolk
Plus oregano and other stuff.

Three year old egg yolk, and potentially rancid oil.

If you survive the week, I'm going to start being a lot more daring with the stuff I fish out from the back if the cupboards.

It had been opened sometime in the 3 years.
It tasted ok.
Time will tell

The sugar will act as a preservative, as might some of the herbs and spices. If it didn't taste off, I wouldn't be too worried.

I'm sure you'll survive but your tummy might have a funny old time for a couple of days.

Best before isn’t the same as use by. It just means that it won’t taste as good as it could.

Blimey, I thought I was bad! I won't eat something if it's been open for a few days, never mind three years!

It tastes like the Big Mac sauce - delicious.
