Dye question - posting here for traffic

Hi, sorry I know this belongs in Housekeeping or something but everyone just seems to hang out here and in AIBU.

I've bought some black Dylon dye, the kind you use in the washing machine. It's to dye some faded jeans. If I follow the instructions (wash once with dye; wash garment a second time with detergent) will the washing machine be ok to wash white things in afterwards?

thanks!

It should be but I’m always wary! I usually run the machine again with a load of stuff I’m not bothered about (the towels I use for the wet muddy dog) before I use it normally.

It should be, but I would use the opportunity to run some washing machine cleaner. It makes the whole thing smell nicer :)

I also run it again afterwards, just in case, often use the opportunity to run a cleaning cycle on the machine.

I'd run at least one empty wash and a load of darks before I'd risk whites, personally.

I expect it depends how good your machine is it rinsing, partly.
