Recurrent nightmare for years and years

I first remember having it as a preteen. Sometimes I have it every week then not for months but it’s the same dream every time.

I’m trapped in a house with lots of doors. And I’m being chased by a lion. Every time I open a door the lion is right there behind me, sometimes I get away but then I turn a corner and it’s there. Since I’ve had kids they are in the dream too and now I’m trying to get them to run as well, to save them from the lion.

Wtf can I do about this, it’s really distressing, just awful to wake up from

Perhaps you are just anxious about your kids. Maybe the lion is a symbol of your anxiousness of not being able to protect your kids or do something right. Are you a very anxious person? Overly protective?

I used to have a dream that I was chased by a skeleton and I just managed to get away to my room. Weird. No, actually I think it started in mum and dad's room, so I am maybe thinking it is a bit Freudian!!

My mum had a recurring dream that used to upset her, although we all teased her about it. Apparently we would all go to a restaurant and leave her there. She would get locked in overnight. Strange. But she was quite needy and always wanted people around her.
