WTF has bitten me?

On holiday in Northern France. Was sorting washing in the holiday villa's utility room when I felt a sharp pain in my foot and realised it was bleeding quite a bit. I have twin puncture marks (pictured), foot has been a bit numb this evening and is sore right across the front.

I don't think it fits with a false widow and I find it unlikely there was an adder I didn't notice by the washing machine.

So:
a) WTF has bitten me?
b) Should I open another bottle of red to medicate it?
c) Would IBU to burn the villa to its foundations?

WTF has bitten me?

What she said ^

You'd think you would have felt a spider (or any other insect) on your foot, but sounds like the most likely option.

The numbness would worry me a little. Probably enough to open that other bottle of red Grin

Just keep an eye on the numbness and check for any swelling/redness. The usual really. If it gets worse then get thee to a doctor. If not, red wine is appropriate medication.

Thank you both ... I'm pleased to report the wine worked and although I have a very sore head my foot is still attached. I'm holding off on the villa-burning exercise because our travel insurance is vague about whether this incidence is covered.
