I have a question for those very in tune with their senses.

OP posts:
ALemonyPea · 28/08/2018 23:14

I was there last week

DragonMamma · 28/08/2018 23:14

I’ve been twice in the last week Blush

ChinUpShouldersBack · 28/08/2018 23:15

I went today

ChinUpShouldersBack · 28/08/2018 23:16

They were playing music.

Bringonspring · 28/08/2018 23:18

No my marriage isn’t strong enough for going or putting together flat pack furniture

Anonymumtum · 28/08/2018 23:18

I went in my lunch hour!

ChaosTrulyReigns · 28/08/2018 23:26

Did you smell piped smells as you wandered around?

Different smells for different room sets?

I'm convinced i did. My children think I've gone bonkers.

Confused

Omg yes!! I was there Sunday and remarked on the delicious smells to my husband. Was wondering if it was a ploy.....I wanted to move in!

Whatabanana · 28/08/2018 23:28

I think it was the wardrobe area...

Anonymumtum · 28/08/2018 23:29

No, no smells until the candle section that I recall...

sliceoflife · 28/08/2018 23:29

Yes. Coffee in the mock up of a small cafe business and fabric conditioner in the bed display. This was in the new Sheffield store. Not just me, Dd commented on it too.

FayKnights · 28/08/2018 23:30

I’ve just got back!
Yes, they definitely pipe smells, we were in a living room set-up with a fake log fire and it smelt of bonfires.

Catzpyjamas · 28/08/2018 23:30

Yes! Smokey fire smell in a living room which had a fake wood burner.

DrAdmin · 28/08/2018 23:32

Yes Ikea Belfast has the woody smell in their man cave set up

DrAdmin · 28/08/2018 23:33

Oh and foody/vanilla smell elsewhere

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/08/2018 23:42

Yes! I have sensory processing issues and one of the rooms they had set up smelt awful to me, I was convinced they were piping smells in, it took a few different ones for DH to believe me.

ALemonyPea · 28/08/2018 23:48

Interesting. I’ve never noticed, usually because DH is trying to get me through there as fast as possible. Will take a sniff next time I’m there.

MajesticWhine · 28/08/2018 23:56

I was there on Monday and I didn't notice any smells. Until we got to the meatballs counter obvs.

mrsmoppp · 29/08/2018 00:13

They had snoring noises and a coffee grinder noise too

Wheresthel1ght · 29/08/2018 00:20

Our new one does this, half of them set my asthma off so not very impressed!

TroubledLichen · 29/08/2018 00:24

Whaaattt no fresh scents at my my Ikea (except for the meatballs). But my nearest is unusual as it’s all jumbled and no market place, the cutlery for instance is with the dining tables. It’s so wrong in so many ways.

Piebeansandchips · 29/08/2018 00:36

I thought I was going mad but thank god others have noticed this. DH thought I was making it up so I can now show him this thread and be vindicated!

babba2014 · 29/08/2018 00:41

It's a new thing they've added so that you get the actual feel of each room as if it were your own home.
I prefer it without all those smells but whatever.

BigBlueBubble · 29/08/2018 00:43

Yes they have started piping smells. The smoky smell in the room with the fake log fire is disgusting.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 29/08/2018 00:46

A good excuse for me to revisit the new Exeter store as I didn’t notice this when I went last week. Grin
