Urgh! In the middle of a job application and my brain has stopped working!

Why? WHY?

My brain has abandoned me. I can’t rememeber any examples of me doing X,y and Z. I am making spelling mistakes left right and centre. I’m struggling to form complete sentences!

Application has to be in tomorrow Hmm

Just throw down anything and go back and edit afterwards rather than write it properly from the start. Embellish a little perhaps to fill the gaps - as long as you know the theory and could do the task Grin if needs be.

Make sure to make a copy in Word if filling in online in case you lose it all if the site crashes or you can't access your application after it's submitted.

Good luck. Sure you'll be grand.

Thank you! I’ve taken a break from it and pohoned my friend who has spurred me on to go back and tackle it. That’s good advice to just throw down anything and then go back and edit!

I feel you’re pain. I had my first interview in 23 years last week

elephantoverthehill · 28/08/2018 23:17

Are you trying to do it on the computer? Maybe write notes by hand, scribble, doodle. mind map etc.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 28/08/2018 23:52

Audit how did it go?? When will you find out if you’ve got the job?

Yes elephant on computer. Good idea to scribble. I’m kind of letting my hands just type right now and then going back and changing what feels wrong .

I sympathise. Very often I cannot think of the word I want to use and find myself using several instead.

In my haste to send one off I managed to not look at the job description until afterwards, so couldn't put much down for why I wanted the job. In my defence I am trying to do this whilst at work on a busy reception.

It is made harder because i do not have internet and printer at home. Cannot print from work.

Good luck OP. I’m applying fir an internal move at the same grade. Been in my role for 14 years while children have taken priority. I want to live internally, but all applications do far have got no further, despite recruiting managers asking me to apply. Bloody competency based recruitment. Bloody blind sifting.

Thanks everyone. I got it finished last night and have had a good read and fix up this morning. Submitted now so nothing more I can do.

deathraystare! Didn’t you get the job? Grin

Oh that’s hard bike. I’m not fully qualified for this role, my computer skills wouldn’t be up to scratch but I’m going for it anyway and can brush up on skills if I get to interview.

I’ve got an interview for a great job next week, with a 20 minute presentation to do. And I’m also supposed to be managing a big event at work the same day. Haven’t yet figured out how to get out of it without telling my manager....

Good luck OP, hope you get an interview!
